Desktop GIS with Open Source Tools
A great new resource for getting started with open source for GIS is the book: Desktop GIS: Mapping the Planet with Open Source Tools by Gary Sherman. This book helps you determine what available open source software
there is and which one will best fit your needs. It goes into detail about how to create and use an Open Source Toolkit. There is also examples of what options are available so you know how better to use them. The author makes sure to cover a variety of desktop applications such as GRASS, Quantum GIS, uDig, etc.
I believe this book will be a must have for every GIS developer who wants to use Open Source.
